What is Web-In?

Web-In is a web event created by, and intended for, web professionals. Its purpose is to stimulate industry artisans with the goal of generating innovation and inventing the Web of tomorrow. To accomplish this goal, it offers concrete unifying workshops on often untapped themes in the field. The idea is to get its participants to think beyond current trends; to bring them out of their comfort zone and challenge their certainties. Ultimately, the objective of Web-In is to position Montreal as an incubator for the next web revolution.

In its first edition in 2010, the Web-In focused on the user experience in relation to the tablets. The event asserted itself as a catalyst for new trends and their applications. By the end of the event, participants were able to conceptualize what could be accomplished through the use of tablets, but also understand what it would allow to develop in the near future.

For its second edition in 2011, Web-In set the goal of inspiring web professionals by triggering a collective reflection on the future of the Web and its consequences. To do this, a series of 17 micro-conferences lasting 10 minutes each, allowed the speakers to share their values and basic principles with the many participants, as well as their visions of the future.

In 2012, Web-In will gain additional momentum by tripling its admission capacity. It will now offer a dozen training workshops, divided into three rooms, that will touch on various key elements of the Web, including: programming, user experience, project management and search engine optimization on the Web.

Web-In is pursuing the following goals:

  • To provide content, addressed and targeted at web professionals, that is original, relevant and credible;
